Fire Safety: Common Questions
Who can I talk to about Fire Safety?
If you wish to speak with someone about fire safety, you are invited to come to a monthly MFSC Steering Committe meeting. They are open to the public and held at 9:00AM on the last Thursday of every month. You can interact with members of the Board of Directors and their experts who are meeting to discuss current and prospective Fire Safe Projects. Alternatively, contact us and we will be happy to put you in contact with someone helpful.
How can I get a Fire Safe Project started?
Any Board Member of the MFSC can arrange a Fire Assessment Visit to your home and property. An experienced fire technician will visit your site, evaluate the area, propose a project, and help you apply for the project's funding if applicable.
How are Fire Safe Projects funded?
MFSC acquires funds by applying for State and Federal Grants in the Autumn and receives its grant awards shortly after the new year. Customarily, MFSC splits the costs of a Project with the benefitting land owner or homeowner association. However, stakeholders shares can be non-monetary in the form of in-kind contributions of actual work. These kinds of contributions often turn out to be wonderful community building events.
