Penny Vieregge, Secretary, Big Sur
Penny lives in Big Sur. She has been an educator for more than 46 years, teaching every grade from pre-school through highschool. She is currently working with Primary and Pre-school children and their parents in elements of Emergency Behavior, First Aid, and disaster preparedness.
She takes particular joy in helping empower individuals within their living and working environments, and in helping create working relationships between civilians and professional first responders.
Penny is a founding member of MFSC, the Big Sur Volunteer Fire Brigade, and long time liaison between the Big Sur communities and the American Red Cross. She is a Small Disaster Response Supervisor and Trainer in Health and Disaster Services.
